Charge Controls

The ‘charge controls’ apply to the default arrangements of occupational money purchase schemes being used as qualifying schemes which  limit charges and how they may be structured.

One member schemes are exempt.

Trustees must ensure that members in default arrangements are subject to charges that:

  • Are limited to 0.75% per year if based on the percentage of member’s funds
  • Regulations specify the cap if the member is being charged on their funds plus a contribution fee.

Some fees don’t apply to the cap such as transaction costs.

Charing deferred members more than active members is banned.
